How to maintain a forklift gearbox

Here are some useful and informative tips on how to maintain your forklift gearbox ?
1. Make sure to shift the gears properly. Do not shift from reverse to forward right away. Make sure you go to neutral before shifting to forward or reverse.
2. Do not pull or push using the forklift. Forklifts are meant for lifting not pushing or pulling.
3. Make sure gear oil is sufficient. Daily check your gearbox oil.
4. Completely replace your forklift's gearbox oil every 6 months to ensure best performance.
5. Make sure the gearbox and engine mountings are in good condition.
6. Make sure axle and other joints near the gearbox are greased during routine service.
